Demänovská Dolina: ski hotel, Jasná and caves

Winter

The Panoramatický chodník Chopok features eight themed stations covering the national park and natural history, as well as the Liptov and Horehronie regions. The Príbeh vody educational trail is 4 kilometres long and begins at the entrance to the Demänovská Dolina valley. Another educational trail focusing on the history of tourism and the ski resort leads from Biela Púť to the Björnson Hut. It is 692 metres long and takes approximately 30 minutes. Nature

Demänovská dolina is designated as a national nature reserve. Several hiking trails lead through the Demänovská dolina National Nature Reserve. Vrbické pleso is a glacial moraine lake and the largest natural lake in the Low Tatras. The Symbolický cintorín obetiam Nízkych Tatier commemorates the victims of mountain accidents in the Low Tatras. The memorial site can be reached via marked hiking trails from Biela Púť in 1.5 kilometres, from Vrbické pleso in 2 kilometres and from Demänovská jaskyňa slobody in 1.5 kilometres.

History and culture

The traditional sightseeing route of Demänovská jaskyňa slobody leads through parts of the cave system that have been open to visitors since 5 May 1933. Finds in Okno Cave provide evidence of prehistoric settlement in the Demänovská Dolina valley. The educational trail between Biela Púť and the Björnson Hut explores the historical development of tourism and the ski resort.
