Ráztoka lies in a valley basin of the Low Tatras and is surrounded by the mountains Farkašovo, Hradisko and Pod šípom. The mountain landscape shapes the village just as much as the historical sites in Ráztoka.
Landscape
Ráztoka lies in the protected zone of the Low Tatras National Park. In the vicinity, Ráztocká hoľa offers views from its summit and summit ridge of the main ridge of the Low Tatras and, to the south, of the Horehronská kotlina.
Culture
One of the notable cultural sites is Hradisko in Ráztoka, a national cultural monument. Hradisko is a settlement site on a hill in the form of a fortified hilltop settlement. The site contains traces of settlement from the Bronze Age, the Late Iron Age and the Middle Ages. Several periods are thus connected at a single location, without the individual historical phases losing their own chronological classification.
Hradisko is also home to the chapel “kaplnka Sedembolestnej Panny Márie”, built in 1942. It stands on the site of a former chapel dating from the 14th century. Another sacred building is the church “Kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie” in Ráztoka. Built in 1840, the church is a single-nave building with a semicircular presbytery end and a wooden roof turret.
The village’s craft heritage is also part of its history: Ráztoka historically had a tradition of lace-making. Part of the population was engaged in producing lace.
Trails
The educational trail “Ráztocké studničky” is located in Ráztoka and was established by the municipality in 2008. Two marked cycling routes also run through the area around Ráztoka. There are also two marked hiking trails with route numbers 2622 and 0816. These hiking trails lead towards Predné Lazy, Zadné Lazy, Panské sedlo and Ráztocká hoľa.
The different types of trails and the directions mentioned form a clearly signposted network of an educational trail, cycling routes and hiking trails. The route numbers and destinations remain assigned specifically to the marked hiking trails.
Community Life
The “Ráztocký sviatok” festival “Ráztocký sviatok” takes place in Ráztoka every year. The Ráztoka municipality’s mobile app “V OBRAZE” provides information about upcoming events.
For bus connections, route 405 operates on the Osrblie–Jasenie–Predajná–Nemecká–Ráztoka/Banská Bystrica route and includes a stop in Ráztoka.
