Nature and cycling paths in Rovereto

The Bosco della Città includes the Percorso Natura, an educational trail with information panels about the flora, fauna and geology of the area. The Percorso Ciclopedonale also runs through the same forest. The mostly flat route offers panoramic views of the Vallagarina and the Monti Lessini.

Rovereto’s cycling network comprises four main routes: the pista Longa, the pista del Leno, the pista della Roggia and the pista del Lavoro. Other paths run through the city’s neighbourhoods. Dedicated signage and maps along the routes help cyclists find their way.

Museums about the city’s history

The Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra – MITAG is housed in the Castello di Rovereto. The museum features a permanent exhibition with testimonies and historical artefacts from the First World War and is considered one of the most important Italian museums about the First World War. The Torrione Marino of the Castello di Rovereto also displays a collection of early modern weapons from the 16th to the 18th century.

The Museo della Città presents Rovereto’s history through urban artworks, archaeological finds, photographs, archival documents and multimedia media. In this presentation, Rovereto’s history ranges from its origins in prehistory through the medieval commune to the modern city.

Art and futuristic works

The Mart in Rovereto presents major temporary exhibitions and has a collection of around 20,000 works spanning more than 150 years of art history. The Mart’s collection includes important art movements of the 20th century, including Futurism, Novecento, Metaphysics, abstraction, Arte Povera and conceptual art.

The Casa d'Arte Futurista Depero displays paintings, tapestries, mosaics, drawings, design objects, collages, posters, event posters and furniture by Fortunato Depero. The Casa d'Arte Futurista Depero is Italy’s only Futurist museum.

Science, planetarium and Monte Baldo

The Museo di Scienze e Archeologia covers archaeology, zoology, botany, astronomy, geosciences and robotics in permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. The botanical exhibition at the Museo di Scienze e Archeologia presents the flora of Trentino as well as the history and botanical richness of Monte Baldo.

The Planetario del Museo offers fulldome projections on Saturday afternoons in an immersive dome cinema. Another special collection is housed in the CoBo Museum of the Torrefazione Bontadi coffee house: it comprises more than 300 tools for coffee production and processing, including some originals from 1790.

A special place of remembrance

The Campana dei Caduti was cast from the bronze of cannons belonging to the nations involved in the First World War. It is the world’s largest bell that rings with a full peal; every evening at sunset, it tolls one hundred times.
