Padergnone between Lakes, Wine and Mills

Padergnone is an old village with glacially shaped morphology. The settlement is concentrated in a depression facing the lake district. Thanks to the climate moderated by the Ora del Garda wind, Padergnone is one of the last remaining places in the Sarca Valley where olives grow. Padergnone is considered the birthplace of Trentino's nursery industry and was a centre for the production of Vino Santo.

Casa Caveau Vino Santo is a new interactive space for Vino Santo DOC in Padergnone's former drying house. The route to Casa Caveau Vino Santo involves a short walk from the car park at Parco del Lago di Santa Massenza to Piazzetta del Mercato in Padergnone, where Casa Caveau Vino Santo is located.

Along the route, seven educational stations explain the history of Vino Santo's development. The Vino Santo Trail connects Casa Caveau Vino Santo with Parco del Lago di Santa Massenza.

Routes on Foot and by Mountain Bike

The Anello Vezzano–Fraveggio–Padergnone is an 8.6-kilometre circular route that passes through Padergnone and is suitable for hiking or mountain biking. In Padergnone, the circular route leads to the old church of Santi Filippo e Giacomo and the war memorial.

The Sentiero della Nosiola, dove il vino si fa Santo includes Sottovi di Padergnone and is considered a circular route with four stages. Depending on whether the reference is to the stages or to the total distance, the stated length ranges from 5 to 20 kilometres. This range is important for planning because it may refer to different sections or to the entire circular route.

Church and Mill History

The parish church of Santi Filippo e Giacomo has a Renaissance structure with Baroque alterations. At the Mólin dela Gióana, displayed millstones along the route of the old mills recall the mill's former use.

The Mòlin dei Pradi was a mill for grinding grain and polishing barley. Its operation is documented for the 17th and 18th centuries; in the 1920s, the mill ceased operations. A mill built by the Miori family in 1901 had a modern roller mill and a bakery.

Cycle Connection and Bus Route

The Ciclabile dei Laghi connects Padergnone with Lago di Terlago over a distance of approximately 10 kilometres. The Ciclabile dei Laghi is suitable for bicycles of all kinds because it is well paved and maintained. Padergnone is connected to other places in Garda Trentino by the 205 intercity bus route running between Riva, Sarche and Trento.
