Calceranica al Lago between hills and lake

Calceranica al Lago stretches from the hills to Lake Caldonazzo. The lake features green lakeside areas, campsites, beaches and leisure activities. Lake Caldonazzo is therefore a defining point of reference for the town and its surroundings.

The Valsugana Cycle Path through the town

The Valsugana Cycle Path runs through Calceranica al Lago and is suitable for everyone. It has no particularly steep climbs; long straight sections and few changes of direction characterize its route. For a bike tour, the features of this path are therefore central: a straightforward route and a level of difficulty that involves no particularly steep climbs.

Churches with a long history

The Chiesa dell'Assunta is a Gothic-Renaissance building. An inscription on the main portal states that the church was built before 1208 and reconsecrated in 1537. The Chiesa dell'Assunta also preserves an almost intact organ by Antonio Callido of Venice, dating from 1805. This organ is considered the only surviving organ by this organ builder in Trentino.

The Chiesa di Sant'Ermete is considered the oldest church in Valsugana. It stands in the historic center of Calceranica al Lago on a rocky elevation. An altar dedicated to the goddess Diana was found on the rocky elevation where the Chiesa di Sant'Ermete stands.

Museo della Miniera and Sentiero della Miniera

The Museo della Miniera documents the intensive mining activity of the Calceranica community from 1800 to the second half of the 20th century. The museum displays miners' equipment and accessories, documents, photographs, maps, as well as drilling, ventilation and transport machinery. Educational panels provide information about the local geology and the area's mineralization.

The circular Sentiero della Miniera – Percorso Verde route starts at the Museo della Miniera. It leads to mining and historical sites in Calceranica and Bosentino, follows an ancient Roman road through forests and along waterways, and returns via the Sentiero del Minatore. The route described thus combines mining history, historic paths, forest sections and waterways within a circular trail.
