Revò’s location between the lake and gorges

Revò stretches across a large promontory jutting out into the artificial Lake Santa Giustina. The promontory lies between the ravines carved by the Novella and Pescara streams. The lake basin was created between 1950 and 1955.

Historic buildings and sacred sites

The history of Revò can be traced back to Roman times. Discovered inscriptions and other archaeological objects attest to these origins. Several buildings also preserve historical traces. Casa Campia was built by the de Maffei family in the last quarter of the 17th century. The year 1669 on the entrance portal of Casa Campia appears to refer to the completion of the building work.

Casa Thun is a 16th-century palace distinguished by its Renaissance architecture. The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel in Revò is a building dating from 1309. It was rebuilt in the 17th century and again after the fire of 1889. The monumental high altar of the Church of Santo Stefano was created in 1687 by the sculptor Giovanni Merlo.

The Chiesetta di San Biagio stands at the top of a striking rocky outcrop beyond the gorge of the Novella stream. Revò also celebrates the Festa del Carmen every year in honour of the Madonna del Carmine.

Trails around Revò

The Snazi-Mont nature trail between Cagnò and Revò can be explored without guided tours. It consists of three circular routes of different lengths. The three circular routes differ in length; this information can be taken into account when planning the time needed for the nature trail.

The RankiPino section from Cloz to the hamlet of Frari, located between Revò and Rumo, follows an old irrigation canal. The section is completely flat and can easily be walked in either direction by anyone. From Revò, a three-hour ascent also leads along a comfortable mule track up the wooded slopes of Monte Ozol. The three-hour duration provides a framework for planning the time needed for the ascent on the wooded slopes of Monte Ozol.

The RankiPino footpath connects Passo delle Palade with the hamlet of Mostizzolo. The Val di Sole cycle route begins at the hamlet of Mostizzolo. In the Pòrtol area near Tregiovo, the remains of abandoned galena mines can be found at an altitude of 1,300 metres above sea level.

Local houses and wine-making tradition

Distilleria Rossi d'Anaunia is located in an old house dating from 1886 in the historic centre of Revò. Cantina El Zeremia has a connection with the local wine-making tradition: the winery was the first historic winery to rediscover and promote the local Groppello di Revò grape variety in Val di Non.
