Cultural history between Forte Venini and the village church

Forte Venini represents the military history of the area. The fort was equipped with four long-range guns, with a range of approximately 13 km. Comprehensive restoration returned Forte Venini in Oga to the public in 2003. In autumn 2014, Forte Venini officially came under the protection and ownership of the municipality of Valdisotto.

A second focus of cultural history is the Church of Saints Lorenzo and Colombano in Oga. It became a parish church in 1632 and is dedicated to Saint Lawrence.

The present Church of Saints Lorenzo and Colombano was built in 1904 in the Gothic Revival style. Before that, a devastating fire had destroyed the former medieval chapel. Inside, two valuable altarpieces dating from 1538 are preserved.

For the feast of Saint Lawrence, the traditional “fiamme di S. Lorenzo” are lit on the natural terrace of Tadè, which overlooks the village. These are large bonfires.

Natural surroundings and hiking destinations

The hike to the Cerdec mountain hut leads through dense forests and green pastures, passing the Cerdec alpine huts. The route begins at the parking area of Forte di Oga, follows trail N280 towards Crap del Maro, passes through the center of Oga and then continues along trail N207.

Paluaccio is a peat bog. It dates back approximately 13,000 years; the Paluaccio di Oga nature reserve covers more than 30 hectares.
