Westerburg: Hotels and Accommodation

Culture

Westerburg Castle is a castle complex first documented in 1192 and built on a fortification dating from the 12th century. The surviving parts include a chapel area from the early 13th century and a large hall completed between 1476 and 1483.

The castle is privately owned. Its castle garden is a destination for excursions, while renovated rooms on the upper floors are used for celebrations and seminars.

The Burgmannenhaus, one of the oldest buildings in the city, stands in Westerburg's upper town. It dates from 1607 and, following its restoration, serves as a venue for cultural events while preserving the historic residential character of an upper social class.
