Nature and Trails
Around 200 hectares of forest belong to the municipality. Well-signposted paths are suitable for short walks as well as longer hikes. The marked trails also support jogging, hiking and cycling.
In good weather, the Hattgenstein observation tower offers views towards Erbeskopf, Idarkopf, Donnersberg and the Saarland.
The Zauberwald nature trail includes a barefoot path, a scent organ and a sound station. The Kirschweiler Fortress is a natural rock labyrinth made of Taunus quartzite.
Local Life
Schwollen has a bakery with an additional range of groceries, as well as the local Böß country inn.
The Fountain Festival brings together the local fountain businesses and the village's mineral spring. The multi-day festival takes place in the village square and the community centre; it also includes homemade cakes prepared by women from Schwollen.
The Christmas market uses wooden huts and offers Christmas goods.
Culture and History
The Götterallee/Sironaweg is a 2.5-km route between Leisel and Schwollen. Sculptures of Roman deities stand along the path; the route also passes the Heiligenbösch Church.
The Heiligenbösch Church was a pilgrimage church and is now a parish church. It stands on the ruins of an extensive ancient villa complex.
The Roman tomb of Siesbach dates from around 175 AD.
From Schwollen, the tomb can be reached on foot via Kirschweiler Straße.
