The 500-metre-long town square is lined with colourful façades in the Inn-Salzach architectural style. The Salzburger Hochbrunnen fountain stands in the square. It was a gift from Prince-Archbishop Johannes Ernst von Thun of Salzburg in 1692. At the entrance to the square is the Nagelschmiedturm, also known as the Münchener Tor; it is the oldest building in the town.

The two “Traidkästen”, the Haberkasten and Kornkasten, are another reminder of the town’s history. They were built as grain stores in the 15th century, with a courtyard between them. The Haberkasten was later converted into a cultural centre. The Kotter Hunting Museum takes a very different approach. Rather than a traditional trophy collection or a wall of weapons, it offers an offbeat, humorous and at the same time critical look at the hunting scene.

Trails and Leisure along the Inn

The Innaue Nature Trail connects the town with the local recreation area south of the Inn and includes 11 interactive stations. As a circular trail, nature trail and walking route, it differs from the short old-town walk: the stations and the connection to the local recreation area are key features of this route. The nature trail is suitable for pushchairs and families.

For a puzzle trail, the GPS tour “A Court on the Move” takes you through Mühldorf, where you solve various riddles along the way. Another way to cross the Inn is the historic, cable-guided tow ferry “Josef III”, which visitors can use to cross the river.

The Mühldorf outdoor pool has a swimming pool, a non-swimmer pool and a paddling pool for children, as well as a water slide and a beach volleyball court.
