Furth im Wald lies on the waterways Chamb, Kalte Pastritz and Warme Pastritz. Around 3 km northeast of the town, the Dieberg rises to 639 m; the Bayernwarte observation tower stands on it. South of the mountain, the Chamb has been dammed to form Lake Drachensee. About 5 km northwest of Furth im Wald, the Kreuzfelsen rises in the Upper Palatinate Forest. It is the highest elevation in the German part of the Upper Palatinate Forest.
