Lam: Panorama Trails, Wood and Legends

The La02 Panorama Trail

The 8 km circular trail “La02 (Panorama Trail)” starts at the Lam Tourist Information Centre. It follows the pavement along Lambacher Straße to Oberschmelz, then continues via Himmelreich, Buchet, the Fürstenzeche mine, Berghäusl and Daxenhof back to the Tourist Information Centre. The route thus combines a stretch along the pavement with a series of named stops and places.

At the edge of the forest, a narrow path passes through Himmelreich, Buchet, the Fürstenzeche mine and Berghäusl. Along the way, there are repeated views of the Bavarian Forest mountains, reaching as far as the Großer Arber. The Panorama Trail therefore focuses both on the route through the named places and on the views.

Wood and legends on two themed trails

The themed trail “Rund ums Holz Lam-Lohberg” (All About Wood, Lam-Lohberg) passes through the villages of Lam and Lohberg. It explores wood from three perspectives: as the basis for producing commercial goods, as a source of energy and as a raw material for creative work. Unlike the Panorama Trail, the subject itself is the common thread here. The route connects Lam and Lohberg and explores different uses and forms of working with wood.

The “La” SAGENhafte (Legendary) circular trail starts at Lam Panorama Park and follows Engelshütter Straße, Holzmühle, Engelshütt and Ginglmühle before returning to Panorama Park. Along the trail, signs display legends from the Lamer Winkel and the Bavarian Forest. The circular trail is suitable for pushchairs. If you are travelling with a pushchair, this is a specific feature to consider when choosing between the trails. In terms of content, the Legends Trail differs from both the Panorama Trail, with its focus on views, and the Wood Themed Trail, with its focus on wood.

Panorama Park and local orientation

Lam Panorama Park is intended to create a connection as close to nature as possible between the market square and the leisure facilities: the indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool and playground. Its planned function thus links the market square with these three facilities. This is a different point of reference from the circular trails: the focus here is on a planned connection between the town centre and leisure destinations, not on the described route of the Panorama Trail or Legends Trail.

Lam in the Lamer Winkel, with Cham as the wider context

Arrach, Lam and Lohberg make up the Lamer Winkel. The “Rund ums Holz Lam-Lohberg” themed trail explicitly passes through Lam and Lohberg; the Panorama Trail and Legends Trail both start and finish in Lam. These different route connections help distinguish the trails: a circular tour with views, a theme connecting Lam and Lohberg, and a circular trail with signs featuring legends.

The wider travel destination of Cham offers other attractions in different places. These examples belong to the wider travel destination of Cham and should be distinguished from the local trail options in Lam.
