At Wörnitz Park, stepped seating by Mühlweiher Pond invites you to linger. Along the Wörnitz Peninsula, you can experience the water up close at fish ladders that visitors can walk on. At Klingenweiher Park, the Golden Pond Trail links the three Klingenweiher ponds with a viewing platform on the former landfill hill. This brings two distinct focuses together: spending time by the water at Wörnitz Park, and the combination of ponds and a viewpoint at Klingenweiher Park.

The Legends Trail also begins at the southern entrance to Klingenweiher Park. The circular route has eleven stops featuring traditional legends, stories and tales from Wassertrüdingen and the surrounding villages. You can explore it independently. While the Golden Pond Trail links three ponds with a viewing platform, the Legends Trail takes you through stories from the town and its surroundings. The two trails thus offer distinct themes that are easy to tell apart.

Museum, town gate and puppet theatre

Museum FLUVIUS spreads its interactive stations across two floors. They cover river and pond landscapes, how they formed and what makes them distinctive, as well as the creatures that live there. A large aquarium displays native fish. The upper floor also explores pond farming and the carp, known in Middle Franconia as the “star fish”. The museum thus combines nature-related topics with the use of pond landscapes.

The Törle, considered a landmark of Wassertrüdingen, is part of the town’s architectural heritage. It is the last surviving town gate of the three that once stood here. The former tower keeper’s room in the tower of the town church also tells the story of the town: dating from the 19th century, it has been lovingly restored in meticulous detail.

The Wassertrüdingen Puppet Theatre offers a different kind of culture. It presents puppet shows for young and old; after the performances, visitors can see a small puppet museum. The theatre complements the historical and natural history topics with an offering expressly aimed at both children and adults.

Wörnitz river bathing area and water experiences

The Wörnitz river bathing area has a shallow-water zone with a lagoon-like feel and a play area for children. At Wörnitz Park, by contrast, the focus is on the stepped seating by Mühlweiher Pond and the walkable fish ladders along the Wörnitz Peninsula. The pond trail at Klingenweiher Park leads to three Klingenweiher ponds and a viewing platform. These differences give you concrete ways to distinguish the area’s waterside spots by their main features: a shallow-water zone and play area, stepped seating and fish ladders, or a combination of ponds and a viewpoint.

More culture in the wider Ansbach destination

The wider Ansbach destination also has distinctive cultural attractions in other places. In Wolframs-Eschenbach, the 2.2-kilometre, wheelchair-accessible Literaturweg Franken is a circular route around the town’s fortifications. Its 15 information boards cover authors from the Middle Ages to the present day whose works explore Franconia. The “wiegen & messen” museum in Königshofen has a different focus: it displays more than 4,000 exhibits, including historical scales and their weights, cubits, yardsticks, and vessels used to measure grain. The wider Ansbach destination thus offers a literary trail and a collection on the history of measurement as two distinct themes.
