Culture
Notre-Dame des Vernettes has been listed as a historic monument since 27 June 1983. The Notre-Dame des Vernettes sanctuary, at an altitude of 1,800 metres, comprises a Marian sanctuary built in 1720, a reception house dating from 1766, an oratory chapel near a spring considered beneficial, and a Stations of the Cross.
The Eglise de la Sainte Trinité à Peisey was built between 1685 and 1720 on the site of an older church. It has an organ from 1773 that is protected as a historic monument. The Chemin des chapelles de Peisey circular route allows visitors to discover seven chapels and a mountain sanctuary.
History
The Monts d'Argent mining site near Pont-Baudin features a museum trail with information panels explaining the history of lead-silver mining and its significance for the Peisey-Nancroix valley. The galena vein at the Palais de la Mine was discovered in 1644 and exploited until 1866.
