Nature and Trails

The Sentier pédestre sylvicole between Sollières and Sardières is a forest trail with information boards about trees and animals. The winter trail to the monolith via Sardières starts at the Chalet nordique de Sardières and leads through the hamlet of Le Clott and Sardières Le Lotissement.

The mountain of Mont Froid and the peaks of La Dent Parrachée, Pointe du Clot and Le Petit Rateau are located around Sardières.

Culture and History

The Musée d’Archéologie Val Cenis Sollières offers free visits, guided tours and archaeology workshops. It presents 3,000 years of everyday life of the inhabitants of the Grotte des Balmes. The museum is located on the Chemin du Petit Bonheur, a route between Modane and Bonneval sur Arc.

A visit to the Grotte des Balmes includes a visit to the first cave chamber, followed by a guided tour of the museum. Sardières is also home to the Église Saint-Laurent. It features Baroque furnishings and magnificent floral motifs in stencil painting, which are described as unique in Haute Maurienne.

The Fort Charles-Albert and Fort Marie-Christine fortresses are located in the immediate vicinity of Sardières. The Saint-Pierre d'Extravache monument is also nearby. The Fort de La Turra fortress is located around Sardières.
