Landscape and trails

Villard-Reculas is located on the sunny terraces of the Massif des Grandes Rousses, between forests and alpine meadows, and offers views of the peaks of Oisans. The Pas de la Confession road, designated as a panoramic route, can be explored on foot, by bicycle or by car. As a historic road, the Pas de la Confession runs between a rock face and the mountain and is one of the emblematic routes of Oisans.

The Station de Trail® de l’Oisans base in Villard-Reculas opened in 2013 and offers an extensive network of marked trail routes for all levels of ability. The Sentier géologique around Villard-Reculas explains the geology of Oisans using information panels and is accessible year-round.

The Boucle des lacs hike can be adapted using mountain lifts and leads to five high-altitude lakes. Culture and village character

The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church in Villard-Reculas was rebuilt after a fire in 1757. The Canal des Sarrazins in Villard-Reculas is still operational today and is considered a monument of the village. Stone-and-wood chalets scattered across the alpine meadows, together with traditional buildings in the old village, shape Villard-Reculas’s mountain farming character.

The La Chèvre…rie farm shop sells cheese and offers the opportunity to meet the goats. La Chèvre…rie offers individual guided tours on request as well as free individual tastings. La Chèvre…rie processes the milk from its alpine goats on site into goat’s Tomme, fresh, semi-fresh, semi-dry and dry goat cheese, as well as goat raclette.
