Culture and History
The “Centre Bourg” village-centre trail is a circular route taking in the sights and heritage of Monestier-de-Clermont. It has been open and accessible since its inauguration on 21 September 2019; a total of 16 information panels accompany visitors along the route.
A gateway marks the entrance to the courtyard of the Château de Bardonenche. The château acquired its present appearance in the 18th century. The thermal spring of Monestier-de-Clermont is now called “source Saint Paul” and is located in an octagonal building at the end of the Allée des Portes du Trièves.
The Église Saint-Pierre features an interior with a life-size wooden Christ. The stained-glass windows from the late 19th century depict scenes of the Marian apparition at La Salette. The church probably originated as the chapel of the former Clermont monastery.
La tour Vallier was completed in 1925 by the miller of the time in memory of his son Lucien Vallier, who died in the 1914 war.
