Mountain Lift and the History of Ski Lifts
For planning your winter trip, the Crêt du Midi chairlift provides a clear elevation reference: it reaches a height of more than 1,700 metres in 10 minutes. At Crêt du Midi, the ten-minute ride can be planned as a separate part of the day. If you would also like to consider the history of ski lifts, the first mechanical ski lift in Praz-sur-Arly is a historical point of reference in its own right. It was built in the 1938–39 season as the Monte-pente de Combe Noire. In Praz-sur-Arly, daily activities therefore range from the chairlift and its history to water activities and trails, as well as art, the market and hot-air ballooning.
Swimming Lake and Water Sports
The swimming lake in Praz-sur-Arly has two separate areas: a swimming area supervised by lifeguards and free for everyone to access, as well as an area for water sports activities. Praz Lac Aventures has a large water-based aquapark. At Praz Lac Aventures, you can rent paddleboards and ride across the calm water. If you are planning a stay by the water, you can distinguish these options according to the type of activity: swimming and water sports are separate at the swimming lake, while Praz Lac Aventures offers the aquapark and paddleboarding as separate water activities.
Treasure Hunt, Mountain Biking and Adventure Courses
On the Sentier des Contrebandiers, a comic serves as a route guide for a treasure hunt in the mountains. Praz-sur-Arly has 10 signposted mountain bike routes. The Parc Aventures offers four courses, each with 12 to 15 stations. The three formats have different focuses: one route follows a story, the cycling tours are signposted, and at the Parc Aventures, the sequence of stations is what matters. This allows you to choose between a narrative route idea, mountain biking and adventure courses when planning your day, without conflating the different offerings.
Art and Hot-Air Ballooning
The Mini-Golf artistique des Belles has 18 creatively designed holes and features around 20 works of art brut. At its 34th edition, the Montgolfiades Internationales was a hot-air ballooning festival held in Praz-sur-Arly over a weekend. For those interested in culture, this presents two different highlights: a venue with creatively designed holes and works of art, and a festival dedicated to hot-air ballooning over the course of a weekend.
Market and Summer Shuttle
The weekly market on the church square offers, among other things, cured meats, cheese and honey. In summer, a free shuttle connects the free car park at the mountain lifts with the swimming lake, the Les Belles leisure centre, the hamlet of La Tonnaz and the town centre. For your summer planning, the church square as the market location and the car park at the mountain lifts as the starting point of the shuttle connection help you organise the various locations.
