Nature
The private Lac de Vonnes covers an area of 2 ha, is located at an altitude of 1,250 m and is 10 m deep; it is also very easily accessible. The “Balcon de Châtel” snowshoe route is very easy, accessible to everyone and leads there from the town centre. It can also be followed in the opposite direction. All fishing techniques without barbs are permitted at the lake. Paddleboarding is possible there with on-site reservation; wearing a life jacket included in the price is mandatory.
The peaks of Pointe du Midi and Le Va are located in the immediate vicinity of Châtel. The peaks of Pointe Sud de Cornebois and Pointe d’Arvouin are also located in the area around Châtel.
Culture and History
Châtel’s sound-related cultural heritage includes 53 bells on five buildings with bells. During the season, La Vieille Douane is served from the church square by a free shuttle bus; the service operates as line 4 to the Les Fioles stop.
Le Pâqueret, considered a ruin, is located in the wider regional area around Châtel.
