Nature and Trails

The route through the Forêt de Comblezine is an 8.69 km-long, moderately difficult, marked circular hike starting and ending in Léoncel. It passes through a forest landscape with a wide variety of tree species and wildlife characteristic of the forests of the Vercors. Along the way, the route follows old paths associated with the history of the Cistercian monks of the Abbaye de Léoncel.

The route to the Col de la Bataille is 21.45 km long and is a very difficult, marked circular hike starting and ending in Léoncel. It passes through deep forests, spectacular rocks and alpine meadows, as well as open panoramas over the valleys of the Drôme.

The Gorges du Léoncel form a narrow, wild corridor along the Petite Lyonne, with clearings and very clear water. This corridor leads to the Plateau de Léoncel and the Abbaye de Léoncel.

The natural area also includes the type 1 continental ZNIEFF area “Plateau d’Ambel et Forêt de Lente”, which encompasses the municipality of Léoncel.
