Culture and History

The Pôle de loisirs de La Poudrière leisure centre includes a skate park, a City Stade, a pump track, a zip line and two boules courts.

At the Fontaine de l’Horloge, the two basins are listed as historic monuments. The Fontaine des quatre Goulettes was designed and built in 1746 by the Genevan architect Jean-Louis Bovet and is also listed as a historic monument.

The Parcours historique de Gex is a signposted circular route with around 30 information panels at municipal sites and points of interest. It includes 35 stations and traces 700 years of history – from medieval city walls to market squares.

The former Saint-Pierre church in Gex features a square chancel with a flat end, typical of church reconstructions in the region in the 13th century. The original parish church of the former Saint-Pierre church in Gex probably dates back to the Middle Ages.

Nature

The capercaillie is still present in the municipal forest area of Gex.

The Fête de l’Oiseau de Gex is organised between the end of May and the beginning of June by the “Chevaliers de l’Oiseau”. Bus routes 60 and 61 run between Gex/L’Aiglette and Gare Cornavin station in Geneva.
