Winter
Several signposted snowshoe routes lead from Giron through meadows, coniferous forests and clearings to impressive viewpoints. A multi-purpose trail runs below the village on the Prairie de Giron. Snowshoes and poles can be rented, and guidebooks can be obtained at the Relais Nordique.
Hiking
Le Tour des Belvédères is a moderately difficult 13.5-kilometre circular hike with a walking time of approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes and 374 metres of elevation gain. The route is officially part of the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura and begins and ends at the Relais Nordique in Giron.
In addition, signposted hiking trails lead from Giron through grazing land, coniferous forests and clearings to several viewpoints. Roche Fauconnière is a classified natural site two kilometres from the village of Giron.
Nature
Giron is situated on grazing land at an altitude of 1,000 metres. Its pastoral landscape offers wide-ranging views, impressive sunsets and spectacular night skies. The forests and meadows of Giron are home to preserved flora and fauna; the Champfromier-Giron forest is a habitat of the capercaillie.
Cycling
Several mountain bike routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels start from Giron. The Giron bike park features four long downhill runs of increasing difficulty, as well as a practice area with chicanes and jumps. The bike park is free of charge and is signposted from the village centre with pink directional signs.
Culture
The church of Giron-Devant was restored in 1902 and is considered a symbol of the commune's religious and administrative autonomy. Giron's village heritage also includes the traditional architecture of the farmsteads, washhouses, fountains and preserved ecclesiastical furnishings.
