Trails and Mountain Landscapes
Themed trail Le parcours du Lynx in Crozet is an easy circular route through the forest, with information panels about the Eurasian lynx. The trail is 3.7 km long, has 186 metres of ascent and 186 metres of descent, and has a stated duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The route from Crozet to the Crêt de la Neige via La Calame runs through the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park and partly through the Haute Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve. It leads to the highest point of the Jura massif and offers views of the Lake Geneva basin and, in clear weather, Mont Blanc.
From the Télécabine car park in Crozet, the route initially follows the Route de la Thène for approximately 700 metres; the trail then begins on the left at a footbridge.
History and Culture
The Château de Rossillon was built at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century on an older motte-and-bailey castle mound. During the War of 1353, the Savoyards destroyed the complex. In the 15th century, it lay in ruins, possibly since as early as 1353.
The historic la vie de l’Etraz trail runs through Crozet at the foot of the mountain. It follows the route used by the Helvetii during their flight.
