In winter, the Val Mijoux chairlift connects the village of Mijoux with the Col de la Faucille. It ascends from an altitude of 1,000 to 1,320 metres and gives hikers and snowshoers access to the peaks and ridges.

Hiking

The La Faucille–les deux Montronds route is a 7.7-kilometre circular hike lasting three hours. It can be hiked from 1 April to 30 November. The route offers views of Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont Blanc.

The Mijoux–Chézery-Forens hiking route leads from Mijoux along the red-and-white-marked GR9 towards the Col de la Faucille and onwards to the Grand Mont Rond. La Nicode is a circular route in Mijoux on the edge of the Valserine, which can be used in winter for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and sledging.

At the Cani-Biathlon in Mijoux, shooting at a target five metres away with a harmless laser rifle is combined with short runs in which participants are pulled by a dog. The activity is available from the age of six when accompanied. Qimmiq Aventure also includes a visit to a polar-dog park, where visitors can learn about the life of a pack and understand, touch and feed the dogs. Qimmiq Aventure in Mijoux offers cani-hiking excursions in summer and dog-sled rides in winter, in which visitors can participate as passengers or mushers.

Culture

The Circuit des fresques in Mijoux comprises 28 murals by Robert Bessard on houses in the village of Mijoux and at La Faucille. They depict occupations from earlier times.

The Église Saint-Christophe et Saint-Jacques was built in 1760 in the territory of the municipality of Lajoux in the Jura département. It also serves as the church of Mijoux in the Ain département in the Rhône-Alpes region. One of the bells in its bell tower, “Marie Jacqueline”, was cast in 1785 and listed as a monument historique.

The Musée des pierres et du lapidaire in Mijoux traces the history of the craft of working with fine and precious stones up to the present day and displays an extensive mineral collection. Visitors can also watch the production process through a glazed workshop.
