The Chapelle de Pouey-Aspe was built in the 19th century on the site of the hermitage of Saint Savin. From Uz, it can only be reached via a marked hiking trail; the route involves an ascent of approximately 300 metres and takes around 45 minutes on foot.

Hiking and Trails

The Le Chemin des Chapelles trail passes through Uz. Its ascent begins at the village washhouse and continues through the forest. On the way back, Le Chemin des Chapelles leaves the forest and leads through heather and ferns, offering views of the surrounding peaks.

A variant of the L'Ancien chemin des facteurs trail provides access to the Chapelle de Pouyaspé from the village washhouse. L'Ancien chemin des facteurs crosses the small Col de Pourtesous and then descends through the remains of an old slate quarry. On the section towards Uz, the trail passes meadows and a barn before ascending through the forest after a footbridge.

The Pic d'Escorne-Crabe, Pic Arraillé and Soum de Lat Dessus peaks are located in the immediate vicinity of Uz. The Pic de Cabaliros peak is also located near Uz.

Cycling

The Circuit VTT n°5 – Vallée d'Argelès – Le Grand Tour de Vallée mountain bike route passes through Uz and forms part of a loop through the Vallée d'Argelès. The route consists of 75% singletrack, 15% tracks and 10% roads.

Culture

The historic site Abbaye Saint-Savin-en-Lavedan is located in the immediate vicinity of Uz. The Château Fort castle and the historic site Maison paternelle de Bernadette are also located near Uz. The Monastere de Marie-Immaculee, Reine du Rosaire monastery is located in the wider surrounding region of Uz.
