Nature

Les Roches du Valtin can only be reached on foot via a hiking trail starting from the village and offer panoramic views over the Vallée de la Meurthe. The Balade de la cascade du Rudlin leads from the road near the Étang des Dames along a red-marked forest trail to the Cascade du Rudlin.

Trails and Activities

Le sentier des panoramas is classified as difficult, is 3.5 kilometres long, has an elevation gain of 150 metres and takes 1 hour 45 minutes. As a walking trail, it combines landscape, cultural heritage and poetry; it includes seven educational panels and 21 poems. There is a car park for this trail on the D23 at the entrance to the village, in the direction of Plainfaing, in front of the town hall.

The cycling route La traversée des vallées vosgiennes starts at the town hall car park in Le Valtin, passes through the village, goes past the Carrière du Valtin and follows the Meurthe for several kilometres. The Luge d'été à la Schlucht consists of two 850-metre-long tracks and has an elevation gain of 107 metres.

Culture

The church of Le Valtin was completed in 1704; the date is engraved in the portal's keystone. Notre-Dame des Chaumes bears the “Architecture Contemporaine Remarquable” label. The contemporary chapel has a pyramidal shape and a glazed gable and has towered over the Col de la Schlucht since 1960. It can be visited individually as part of self-guided visits. Every summer, masses and a cultural programme take place at Notre-Dame des Chaumes.
