The Parc naturel régional de Lorraine lies on both sides of the Nancy–Metz axis in Grand Est and covers just under 210,000 hectares. Lorraine has three regional nature parks.
Nature
The Parc naturel régional de Lorraine features a mosaic of valleys, plateaus, ponds and plains. The Plaine de la Woëvre is a wetland and refuge for amphibians, reptiles, insects and migratory birds.

The étang de Lindre is a habitat for waterfowl, amphibians and remarkable flora. The étang de Mittersheim is a Natura 2000 site consisting of ponds, wetlands and forests.
The Vallée de la Meuse is one of Europe’s major alluvial valleys and is the least urbanised part of Lorraine. The Vallée de la Seille contains inland salt marshes and salt-tolerant vegetation.
