Haut-du-Them-Château-Lambert is located in the Parc Naturel Régional des Ballons des Vosges. At 1,216 metres, the Ballon de Servance is the highest point both in the municipality and in the Haute-Saône département. The Ognon rises in Château-Lambert.

Hiking routes in Haut-du-Them-Château-Lambert

The La Tour du Chaume circular trail starts at the Parcours de santé in Haut-du-Them and is 7.8 km long. It passes through the village, its viewpoints and the cultural heritage at the foot of the Ballon de Servance. This distance provides a clear planning framework for the hike between the village, viewpoints and the cultural heritage at the Ballon de Servance.

The Sentier des écoliers starts in Haut-du-Them-Château-Lambert. The trail follows the route taken by former pupils on their way to school in Belmont and offers views over the valley. Nature and environmental education at the Espace Nature Culture

The Espace Nature Culture in Haut-du-Them-Château-Lambert is one of the four sites of the Parc naturel régional des Ballons des Vosges that welcome visitors free of charge. The 250 m² exhibition is devoted to the natural and cultural riches of the southern Vosges.

The activities at the Espace Nature Culture address the environment, sustainable development and the cultural heritage of the Haute-Saône département. The Maison de la Nature regularly hosts thematic events and activities there to raise public awareness of the environment.

Crafts, mining and village history

Outside the buildings, the Musée Départemental Demard de la Montagne has a trail along the hillside. It presents forestry and woodworking professions, including charcoal burning, wooden-shoe making and sawing with a two-man saw.

The Musée de la Montagne also presents work connected with mining copper, silver-bearing lead and molybdenum. The former copper and silver-bearing lead mines of Château-Lambert were worked from 1374 to 1768. In addition, the Musée Départemental Demard de la Montagne recounts the history of the village community before the major changes brought about by the First World War.

Getting from Haut-du-Them to Château-Lambert

To get to Château-Lambert from the village of Haut-du-Them, follow the route du Maillebourg and then the D135. This connection names the two successive road sections.
