Hiking and Nature
The La Jougnena circular hike in Jougne explores the Jougnena Valley. It is classified as difficult, is 17.7 kilometres long, and has a stated duration of 7 hours and 30 minutes. The route leads into Switzerland and explores the valley between Jougne and Vallorbe via Ballaigues.
The Entre-les-Fourgs par la forêt route runs between the Chapelle Saint-Maurice and the Chapelle Saint-Claude. It leads along a wooded slope through a beech forest, where hikers may see chamois.
Culture and History
The Chapelle Saint-Maurice in Jougne is the last surviving part of a priory. It was rebuilt in the 12th century above a Carolingian crypt dating from the 9th century and has been classified as a historic monument since 30 April 1930.
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Jougne overlooks the Jougnena Valley and is located by Jougne's fortifications. It was built in the 17th century and rebuilt in the mid-19th century. The bell tower in the Comtois style was rebuilt in 1981.
Jougne's North Gate preserves a segmental arch bearing the town's coat of arms. The Roman road running through Jougne led from Potal over the Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard to Lausanne and on to Besançon; it later became a trade and monastic route.
