Super Besse: Slopes, Elevation and Shuttle Services
Accommodation in Super Besse
Slopes and winter sports in suitable conditions
When snow conditions are optimal, the Super-Besse ski area has more than 40 km of slopes for all ability levels. Under these conditions, the selection ranges from areas for beginners to more challenging runs. If you are staying with people of different ability levels, you can choose the slopes according to each person’s ability, so that not everyone has to plan the same run. When snow conditions are optimal, a ski day for people with different ability levels can also be organised in separate time periods, without limiting the choice to a single slope.
When there is sufficient snow, the Super-Besse ski area offers night skiing until 8 p.m. Under this condition, the winter sports day can be extended into the evening. Anyone wishing to make use of this period should therefore plan it for a day with sufficient snow. The option of night skiing remains subject to this requirement.
Elevation, views and activities off the slopes
Super-Besse is located in a protected natural landscape at an altitude of 1,350 to 1,850 metres.
At the upper station of the Téléphérique de la Perdrix, there is a viewpoint and an orientation board.
The 1,600-metre-long Fantasticable zip line runs above the station and reaches speeds of up to 120 km/h. It can be included as a separate item in your day’s itinerary. The maximum speed of up to 120 km/h is an upper limit, not a speed that is guaranteed throughout the ride.
The year-round Super Coaster toboggan run features a 1,300-metre descent, a vertical drop of 130 metres and gradients of up to 35%. As a year-round toboggan run, the descent in Super-Besse remains part of the local offering outside the ski season as well. Anyone including it in their day is therefore planning a toboggan run alongside skiing rather than another slope.
Getting there and travelling between the village and the station
Super-Besse can be reached from Clermont-Ferrand by car in approximately 45 minutes. This approximate duration provides a specific timeframe for travelling from this city. It refers to the drive to Super-Besse and not to journeys within the resort. The drive from Clermont-Ferrand and travel within Super-Besse therefore constitute two separate stages of planning the journey.
Within the Super-Besse resort, free shuttle buses run continuously in winter. For travel within the resort, a free shuttle service operating continuously is therefore available in winter. Shuttle buses also run between the village of Besse and the Super-Besse resort. The connection to Besse concerns travel between the village and the resort. Anyone including both areas in their stay should plan this route separately from travel within the resort.
