Winter
The “Celts in the Šumava” educational trail leads from Popelná near Nicov to Obří hrad and is 1.5 km long (one way).
Landscape
The summit of Královský kámen is a junction of marked hiking trails. From there, views extend across the southern part of the Šumava towards Boubín and Třístoličník.
Obří hrad near Popelná, close to Nicov, lies in Zone I of Šumava National Park. The site is located on a wooded hill above the Losenice Valley near Nicov and offers scenic views.
Culture
The Church of St. Martin in Nicov is a late Romanesque building from the 13th century and is considered the highest-altitude Romanesque building in Bohemia. A Benedictine provostry of Ostrov Monastery existed in the Church of St. Martin from the beginning of the 14th century until 1420. The vestibule is freely accessible for a view into the nave.
The Rooster Cross in Nicov is a remarkable work of folk art. The current Rooster Cross at the edge of the forest, approximately 0.5 km northeast of Nicov, is a copy from 2005. The Rooster Cross offers panoramic views.
The archaeological remains of Obří hrad include double fortification walls and a central acropolis.
