Pila: Hotels and Accommodation

Near Pila, a memorial tree officially bears the name “Čepičkovo dub na Pile”. Its trunk circumference is 395 centimetres, and its crown reaches a height of 25 metres.

Location and Landscape

Pila is located about three kilometres west of Nemanice on the road from Mýtnice to Lučina. Kleeberg and Škarmanka, both mountains, are located nearby. Jacklberg and Reichenstein, also mountains, are located in the surrounding area.

Remains of houses have been preserved near Pila. In the wider regional surroundings of Pila, the Niva Nemanického potoka comprises alluvial forests of ash and alder, streams from the lowland to mountain levels with corresponding aquatic vegetation, moist tall-herb communities, transitional bogs and quaking bogs, as well as habitats of the brook lamprey.

History

Pila (Seeg) was first mentioned in 1613. In 1749, there were three mills and a sawmill there. Between 1950 and 1960, Pila (Seeg) disappeared because the settlement was located in the border area.

In the wider regional surroundings of Pila are the ruins of Schwärzenberg and the Chammünster Church, the Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
