Horní Studénky is situated in a gently rolling hilly to upland landscape. Permanent grasslands alternate with forests on steep slopes and in the valleys; the valley floors are cool and damp.

The landscape combines open grasslands with wooded slopes and valleys.

Trails and Transport

Three marked hiking trails run through the municipality of Horní Studénky. The blue trail leads to the Church of Saint Leonard and leaves the village via Příčnice in the direction of Klášterec. The red trail runs north of Králova hora through a valley to Sychrov Pond and continues from there to Jakubovice.

Horní Studénky is also connected by two cycling routes: Route 6229 leads from Jedlí in a southwesterly direction to Horní Studénky, continues to the church and then via Sychrov in the direction of Písařov. Route 6231 comes from Štíty to Horní Studénky and runs through the municipality. The village is served by bus and road transport.

Water

The reservoir is located before Horní Studénky in the direction of Svébohov. It is used for fishing and also serves as a swimming spot for people from the surrounding area. The pond was created in 1964, covers 1.26 hectares and is used for fish farming. It lies at the opposite end of the village from the reservoir, about 1 kilometre beyond the Myslivecká chata.

Culture

The Church of Saint Leonard was built in its present form in 1666. Together with its surrounding wall and ambits, it is a registered immovable cultural monument. The ambits were built in 1734 to protect pilgrims from bad weather. Horní Studénky also has a column with a statue of the Most Holy Trinity, which is likewise protected as a registered immovable cultural monument.

At the lower end of the village stands a rustic chapel made from a tree trunk. It is associated with a local legend about the fortunate discovery of a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Nature

There are two game reserves in the vicinity of Horní Studénky: one for keeping red deer and one for keeping fallow deer and mouflon.
