Culture
Podmoklice is home to the Sbor Dr. Karla Farského, a building with a precisely documented opening date. Completed and opened on 18 September 1938, it was declared a cultural monument on 20 September 2016. The Sbor can be reached by train, bus and private vehicle. Industrial History
Commented tours of the FABRIKA 1861 complex introduce its industrial architecture from the 19th and 20th centuries. They also include areas that were formerly closed to the public: production halls, offices and the Ludmila clock tower. The tour therefore goes beyond the architecture to include specific parts of the complex. The historic riveted pedestrian bridge Lávka Amálka was also renovated in the FABRIKA 1861 grounds; it is now back in operation there. In addition to the industrial areas, the site therefore also includes a historic bridge structure that has been put back into operation. Technology
The clock in the Ludmila Tower of FABRIKA 1861 was put back into operation on 31 July 2021 at 19:01. At the „U Zlatého kola“ Bicycle Museum, the presentation of the development of bicycles spans various periods. The museum also showcases technology, movement and the craft tradition of cycling. The technical theme ranges from the clock tower to the history of bicycles: a single timepiece is set against a presentation covering periods, technology, movement and the craft tradition of cycling. When visiting the museum, current opening hours should be checked in advance before travelling.
History
In the archaeological find area of Podmoklice, a village that disappeared during the Thirty Years' War stood at the site of the Kapla ZSO manorial farm. The find site thus connects a specific place with a settlement history that ended in the war.
Nature
In the area of the host municipality, the Riegrova Trail passes through the Galerie natural monument and the Údolí Jizery a Bítouchova nature reserve. The Riegrova Trail also features a 77-metre-long suspended gallery offering views of the Jizera. The same route therefore includes protected landscape areas and a section of trail that opens up views of the river. The river view is tied to the suspended gallery; the two protected areas lie along the Riegrova Trail. Geographical Context
The Pardubice–Liberec railway line was built between 1856 and 1858, with Semily railway station. The subsequent industrial boom contributed to much stronger growth in Semily and Podmoklice.
