Landscape
The rock formations in the cadastral area of Janovice v Podještědí resemble the landscape of Český ráj in appearance. The Pískový vrch, Sedlecký Špičák, Rozsocha and Zelený vrch mountains are located in the surrounding area. Kaple Nejsvětější Trojice, a church, is also located nearby. In the wider regional surroundings of Janovice v Podještědí, there is also Starý Berštejn, a ruin.
Trails and Routes
The long-distance cycling route No. 241 runs through Janovice v Podještědí. Its 49 km route leads from Petrovice via Jablonné v Podještědí, Stráž pod Ralskem and Mimoň to Mukařov. The regional cycling route No. 3046 connects Janovice v Podještědí in the direction of Křižany and Hamr na Jezeře. A yellow-marked hiking trail from Jablonné podještědí to PP Stříbrník also passes through the village.
Culture and History
Among the architectural landmarks is Janovice 29. The house, partly built using a log construction technique, has a half-timbered upper floor supported by a timber-framed construction and dates from the early 19th century. Its roof is covered with fired plain clay tiles and glazed tiles forming geometric patterns.
Janovice 75 is a single-storey house, partly built using a log construction technique, with a three-part floor plan. A newer masonry section by the chamber extends the floor plan. The building was constructed in the first half of the 19th century and has a gabled roof with a continuous dormer and two gabled dormers.
The Janovické poustevny consist of several sandstone rocks with rooms and niches carved into them. The chapel in Janovice v Podještědí is a square, plastered building with sandstone foundations and an octagonal bell turret. It was built on 24 June 1753 as a new stone chapel and solemnly consecrated on 14 October 1754. A Calvary was later created in Janovice v Podještědí.
