Svoboda Nad Upou: Hotels and Accommodations

Svoboda nad Úpou is one of five connected areas of SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA - PEC, which offers more than 50 kilometers of ski slopes with one ski pass.

Nature

Via Piette is a 9-kilometer-long educational trail with a walking time of approximately three hours and an elevation gain of 291 meters. As a walking route in the surroundings of Svoboda nad Úpou, it connects cultural monuments, technical sights, and a section of natural landscape along the Černohorský potok stream. The route is suitable for hiking and, in dry weather, also for mountain biking.

The route includes the Sklenářovické údolí nature monument, a complex of meadows and wetlands with a particularly well-preserved mosaic of vegetation, as well as protected plant and animal species.

Culture and History

In the second half of the 19th century, the paper mills of Svoboda nad Úpou produced and exported the first cigarette paper in Central Europe. The Rudolfovy slavnosti are held regularly in autumn in Svoboda nad Úpou; they include demonstrations of gold mining and gold panning.

Additional Activities

At Farmapark Muchomůrka, visitors can observe, feed, and pet freely roaming animals up close. The farm park also offers nature-based play elements, a castle made of straw bales, swings, Indian tennis, croquet, and a fire pit for baking bread on sticks or grilling.

Transport and Development

The regional railway line from Trutnov to Svoboda nad Úpou ends at the Svoboda nad Úpou stop. Tourism in Svoboda nad Úpou began to develop as early as the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the railway line that was built.
