Historical occupations in Hertvíkovice included agriculture, crafts, and later weaving; from the second half of the 19th century, residents also worked in nearby textile and paper factories. Home weaving of linen and cotton was introduced in Hertvíkovice around 1676 by Prince Jan Adolf Schwarzenberg, but later lost its importance.
In 1753, the linen merchant Z. Kühnel exported 20,000 kop of linen from Hertvíkovice. Hertvíkovice is located on a former ore route.
