Geographical location
A cable car connects Riddes with Isérables. From there, a PostBus continues to La Tzoumaz, which can also be reached by road. Nearby La Tzoumaz is connected to the 4 Vallées ski area.
To travel by train, take a train from Geneva or Brig to Riddes, then walk a few hundred metres from there to the cable car. By car, you can reach the village via exit 24 of the A9; the signs indicate Riddes, Saillon, Chamoson and Leytron.
Nature
The La Voie des Erables hiking route begins in Pied du Mont in Riddes and climbs to Isérables. It runs along orchards and forest edges, offers views of the Rhône Valley and includes twelve educational panels on local history and nature.
Culture and history
Archaeological finds in Riddes provide evidence of several settlement phases from the Bronze Age to the present day. Excavations near Saint-Laurent Church uncovered the remains of a Romanesque church, which probably corresponds to a written reference from 1153. A heating project in 2019 also revealed the remains of a residential district that probably dates from the Middle Ages to the modern era.
The municipal coat of arms of Riddes depicts a covered bridge, a fortified tower and the grill of Saint Lawrence. The village also hosts the Fête de la pomme every two years.
