Gisikon combines the Kneipp Garden located directly on the edge of the Feldhof nature reserve with the Reuss landscape and views towards the mountains. Nature

The habitat along the Reuss in Gisikon is considered diverse and varied. From Gisikon, there are views towards the mountains.

The Rontal high-level trail is a hiking route through nature measuring around 14 kilometers and connects Gisikon with other municipalities in the Rontal. Along the route from Gisikon to Michaelskreuz, Gisikon Forest offers a forest hiking experience. A boat launching site has been created on the Reuss near MoTell for boaters.

In the Rontal area, the Rontal circular trail between Ebikon and Root includes a restored section along the Ron.

Getting around

Gisikon has a railway station and a bus stop. There is also a motorway connection nearby towards Lucerne, Zug, and Zurich.

History

Gisikon was first recorded around 1270/80 in the rent register of the Cistercian convent of Rathausen. As an important bridgehead, the village served regional traffic from the Seetal and the Freie Ämter, as well as long-distance traffic towards Lucerne and the Gotthard.

The present-day Gasthof Tell is housed in Gisikon's last toll house, which was built in 1847/48.
