Built in 1912, the Langwies Viaduct is a reinforced-concrete bridge with a span of 284 m. The Langwies Viaduct Museum occupies several historically significant rooms near the railway station and brings the history of the structure to life for locals and visitors. The viaduct can be viewed on foot from Langwies railway station; walks around the village also offer ever-changing perspectives of the structure. Taking the train across the Langwies Viaduct is an impressive experience.
Culture
The Reformed Church in Langwies was founded in 1384; the tower and the walls of the nave date from that time.
The Kulturhuus Schanfigg is housed in the former schoolhouse in Langwies and serves as a cultural meeting place for locals and visitors. It houses the Schanfigg Cultural Archive, the Raetica Library of the von Sprecher family from Jenins, as well as a lending library for children and families. The Kulturhuus Schanfigg association regularly organizes film evenings, readings, lectures, and exhibitions.
The Holzzeichen-Hüttli above Langwies displays and explains decorative Walser wood-symbol patterns collected by local folklorists Walter and Töni Engel.
