The 3 km-long Arosa–Litzirüti toboggan run leads from Arosa-Untersee to Litzirüti. It follows the Plessur and the Rhaetian Railway tracks and runs mostly through dense fir forests.

Getting Around

Parking spaces belonging to the Rhaetian Railway are available next to Litzirüti railway station. On the Rhaetian Railway route from Arosa to Chur, the train stops in Litzirüti.

Nature and Culture

The short hike from Litzirüti to Langwies reaches its highlight at the Langwies Viaduct. The viaduct is located between Litzirüti and Langwies. After just a few metres, you reach a wooden bridge with a view of the 62 m-high Langwies Viaduct. It was built in 1912 and has a span of 284 m.

The hike from Litzirüti to Langwies leads through the Ronenwald forest and past experience stations on the «schutz.wald.mensch» educational trail. The educational trail has interactive stations along the hiking route between Arosa and Langwies. The «schutz.wald.mensch» educational trail offers educational experiences for children and adults.

Routes

The Medergen–Sapün route is signposted in only one direction: Arosa–Medergen–Langwies–Arosa. After crossing the Plessur, it reaches Litzirüti and joins the well-known route to the reservoir and Arosa. From Arosa, the route leads via the reservoir to Litzirüti and then climbs towards Medergen.

The Hochwang–Peisteralp route leads from Arosa via the reservoir to Litzirüti and onwards to Molinis; it uses single trails and forest roads.

History

The name Litzirüti refers to a shady side and to an area that was once forested, cleared and made usable for agriculture. In the Middle Ages, the Walser settled in the area of Arosa, Langwies and Litzirüti.
