In El Soplao, a speleological visit follows a 2.5-hour route through several galleries and less accessible areas of the cave. The cave and its surroundings comprise more than 20 kilometres of mining galleries.

Landscape

Cantabria’s landscape combines the sea, gentle valleys and mountain pastures. The Cantabrian coast is slightly more than 250 kilometres long. Along this coast there are more than 60 beaches with fine, white sand.

Nature and Trails

Oyambre Nature Park includes beaches, dunes, cliffs, pastureland and the Monte Corona forest. The Liencres Dunes have numerous walking trails and wide beaches.

Liébana has many marked walking trails. In Cantabria, there are walking trails all year round. The Interpretation Centre located in Los Tojos organises guided activities and provides information for self-guided visits.

The Fuente Dé cable car ascends 753 metres and provides access to the Mirador del Cable and the Puertos de Áliva.

Culture

Altamira is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known as the “Sistine Chapel of Rock Art”. With the exception of Altamira, the Government of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria is responsible for the caves in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
