At the Aramón Valdelinares ski resort, the Escuela de Esquí y Snowboard Aramón ski school at the Aramón Valdelinares station offers alpine skiing, snowboarding and various forms of adaptive skiing. The ski resort also has a conveyor-belt area for sledding.

Landscape

Valdelinares is located in the Sierra de Gúdar, in the upper reaches of the Linares River. A population of black pine (Pinus uncinata) grows on the peaks of Monegro and is considered the southernmost stand of this pine species in Europe; the peaks rise to more than 1,900 metres.

The Peñarroya peak is considered the highest peak in the western sector of the Iberian System. Griffon vultures are very common in the Valdelinares area.

Culture

The parish church of Valdelinares was built in 1751 by master builder Juan Escuder. The annual festival in honour of Our Lady of the Snows, Nuestra Señora la Virgen de las Nieves, takes place on 5 August.

The Ermita de San Cristóbal stands on a hill and serves as a viewpoint over the surroundings of Valdelinares. The Fuente de la Raza was built in 1930 and is a defining feature of the Plaza de la Raza in the town centre.

The Casa de la Villa is a four-storey masonry building and is one of the oldest and most historically significant surviving buildings in Valdelinares. The washhouse is a simple masonry structure with a barrel vault and a dressed-stone arch. It contains a water outlet and a basin; next to it is the Fuente del Lugar, the oldest spring in the town.

Geographical Setting

The GR 8 includes Stage 12 from Valdelinares to Alcalá de la Selva.

The Puerto Ciclista de Valdelinares starts in Alcalá de la Selva and climbs along the A-2705 road to the Valdelinares ski station. Valdelinares is 50 kilometres from the Autovía Mudéjar A-23, which connects Valencia with Teruel and Zaragoza.

The three route connections differ in form: the GR 8 is defined as a stage with a named destination, the PR-TE 29 passes via the El Espinillo spring to Valdelinares, and the cycling route climbs from Alcalá de la Selva along the A-2705 to the ski station. This keeps the start, destination and course of each connection clearly distinct.
