Culture
The Radlje ob Dravi Museum in Dvorec Radlje is closed to visitors until further notice due to renovation work. Dvorec Radlje is a modern interactive museum in the former county estate, also known as the Lower Castle of Mahrenberg. The building is surrounded by an English-style landscape park laid out in the 19th century.
The ruins of Mahrenberg Castle lie above the town on Kamen Hill. They offer views and convey the history of the former castle. The Kalvarija in Radlje is an artistic monument created in 1724, featuring life-size Baroque stone sculptures. It consists of seven statues placed along the path to the hilltop, depicting the Stations of the Cross.
The Church of St. Michael in Radlje ob Dravi is first mentioned in 1251. It has a nave, a chancel ending in three sides of an octagon, a freestanding bell tower, as well as a Baroque chapel and a sacristy. Rosenhof, also known as “Flower Court,” in the middle of the square probably dates from the 16th century and features architectural details from the early 17th century, including wooden beam ceilings on the upper floor.
At the Remšnik Mineral Museum, minerals from the Remšnik mines can be viewed and examined with the naked eye, under a magnifying glass, and under a microscope; some of them are very rare. The Dominican Monastery is an important cultural monument with architectural details from the early Baroque period. Nature
The 552-hectare mixed Pahernik forests on the northern slopes of Pohorje between Vuhred and Velika Kopa are considered a popular excursion destination and an important educational site. The forest is also home to Aktivarium, a motor skills park that promotes physical activity and enables nature experiences across generations.
Trails
The Stari grad Forest and History Educational Trail is suitable for school groups, forestry professionals, hikers, and families. The Stari grad educational trail is an approximately 3-kilometre circular route with information boards about the botanical and historical features of the area.
The educational hiking trail divided into 22 stages along the municipal boundaries is particularly suitable for beginners and families with children. The well-known Ciglarjeva pešpot (E6) leads from the Drava to the Adriatic. For cyclists, the Meridiem Trail passes through Radlje ob Dravi; the international long-distance cycle route connects Vienna and Villach.
The Dobrava Water Educational Trail begins at Reš Pond near Radlje ob Dravi. Along the Drava River, it combines a themed educational trail with an orienteering adventure in which five lost treasures are sought. More than 15 themed boards stand along the route.
Vodni Park Radlje ob Dravi is a biological swimming pool whose water quality is maintained exclusively by natural organisms, without the addition of chemicals. A beach volleyball court is located right next to Vodni Park Radlje ob Dravi.
Getting There
Radlje ob Dravi has regular bus connections from Ljubljana, Celje, Maribor, and Slovenj Gradec. It is possible to travel by train to Vuhred and then continue by bus; the bus journey from Vuhred to Radlje ob Dravi takes approximately five minutes.
