Skiing and Cross-Country Skiing

For planning your days, the options can be compared separately by route length and activity type. Different priorities can be taken into account within a travel group without combining the options into a single discipline. Switching between activity types remains identifiable as a separate planning decision; their respective characteristics are not blurred by a shared description. Route length and activity type thus provide objective points of comparison for winter days with different structures. The different details allow the winter days to be clearly distinguished: cross-country skiing remains a separate activity alongside Ski Cross, while the respective route characteristics can be considered separately. This avoids creating a shared profile that obscures the differences between the options. The classification therefore remains focused on the specifically mentioned options and their distinguishable characteristics.

Natural Environment and Trails

The Monkova dolina educational trail begins in Ždiar and leads for 6 km to Kopské sedlo. Monkova dolina was formed by glacial activity; remnants of lateral moraines have been preserved on its slopes. The gorge also contains a 140 m high rock step with cascades of waterfalls. The educational trail, glacial formations and waterfalls describe different aspects of the same natural environment.

Ždiar is a starting point for excursions into the Belianske Tatry. Votrubova Chata is among the historic sites in the area around Ždiar. Belanská Jaskyňa is a cave in the vicinity of Ždiar. The mountains in the immediate surroundings of Ždiar include Bujačí vrch, Hlúpy and Ždiarska vidla.

Culture and Folk Architecture

Ždiar is one of only ten Slovak folk architecture reserves. The folk architecture reserve in Ždiar comprises 236 listed buildings in four groups of vernacular structures. This architectural distinction stands alongside a lively event: the Goralské folklórne slávnosti folk festival takes place annually in Ždiar.
