Stonecutting Tradition and the Museo degli Scalpellini in the Centre of the Village

The stonecutting tradition of Cencenighe Agordino produced fountains, vessels, steps, paving and door thresholds. The Museo degli Scalpellini presents representative examples of a centuries-old local stonecutting tradition; information panels explain a brief chronology of this activity and its distinctive features for visitors. The small open-air museum is located in the centre of the village of Cencenighe Agordino, just a few steps from the town hall and the “Nof Filò” community hall.

At Monte Pelsa: Connecting Trails, Forest Clearings and the “El troi de le iàl” Circular Trail

In 1992, the Amici della Montagna di Cencenighe Agordino group restored the connecting trails between the various forest clearings on Monte Pelsa and created the signposted “El troi de le iàl” circular trail with labelled clearings.

The “La Valle di Gares e F.lla S.Tomaso E-mtb” E-MTB tour passes through the centre of Cencenighe Agordino and then continues to Canale d’Agordo. The Falcade Bike Trail reaches Cencenighe Agordino via the old road leading downhill from Avoscan.

Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate: Construction History and Wooden Altar

The Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate in Cencenighe Agordino dates back to 1250 and was rebuilt in 1723. The Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate preserves a carved wooden altar dating from 1753.

Pavarùi, gnoch co la puìna and Customs Throughout the Year

On the eve of Epiphany, 5 January, pavarùi fires are lit in the villages. These fires are intended to promote a good harvest. After the pavarùi fires, gnoch co la puìna, meaning gnocchi with smoked ricotta, is traditionally served for dinner. On 15 August, after the church service, the male Coscritti take turns carrying the statue of the Madonna in a procession along Via Villagrande. On the eve of San Martino, 10 November, children traditionally go from house to house in the late afternoon, singing rhymes and receiving walnuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, sweets and biscuits in return.
