Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
The Careggine ski resort has three ski lifts. The lifts serve alpine ski slopes in the two areas of Formica and Monte la Cima; in total, there are 5 kilometres of groomed runs.
The Careggine ski resort has 5 kilometres of cross-country trails groomed for both the classic style and skating. In the classic style, the skis are guided in a track, while in skating the push-off is performed sideways. Both terms refer to different cross-country skiing techniques.
In Careggine, snowshoes are suitable for exploring the area's forests and clearings. Snowshoes are worn on the feet and make it easier to walk on snowy ground.
Hiking Trails in the Mountains
The Sentiero dei Mulini consists of two circular trails. The two trails meet in the area of the sports facilities, making a shorter walk possible as well.
Isola Santa is a village located at an altitude of 550 metres in the Apuan Alps in the Garfagnana. Isola Santa was probably founded in the High Middle Ages as a hospice on the road connecting the Garfagnana with Versilia.
Hiking trails from Isola Santa lead to Monte Corchia, Freddone and Monte Penna di Sumbra.

Bosa is situated on a natural terrace overlooking Lake Vagli and the valley of the Edron River.
The large, bright yellow Big Bench offers an impressive and unspoilt view of the Apuan Alps.
The first Big Bench in Tuscany was inaugurated in 2019 and can be reached via a mule track leading to the “Dei Monti” lookout point.
History, Nature and Local Products
The first records of Careggine date back to 720, when a chapel was consecrated. The chapel is now the parish church.
The present-day parish church of Careggine contains a stone altarpiece and a statue of Saint Anthony dated 1563 and attributed to Vincenzo Civitali.
