Celledizzo between Village Structure and Landscape

Celledizzo lies on a gently sloping alluvial fan. An alluvial fan is a depositional landform created when material transported from higher slopes is deposited at the outlet of a watercourse.

Traditional Buildings and Fountains

The traditional buildings in Celledizzo include numerous farm buildings with open vaulted spaces and large wooden truss structures. Wooden truss structures are load-bearing components made of wood and shape the appearance of these buildings.

The Church of Santi Fabiano e Sebastiano stands on the edge of Celledizzo’s town centre. The church overlooks the village’s old houses and the valley floor.

Celledizzo is characterised by numerous fountains with washing areas and livestock troughs. The combination of these functions points to the fountains’ former practical use in the village.

The oldest fountains in Celledizzo have been preserved in their original form. The fountains are made of granite, bear the year 1900, and were crafted by the Zorzi master stonemasons from Vermiglio.

Museums of Woodworking and Mountain Farming Culture

The Museo Etnografico del Legno displays the old equipment of a sawmill. Although the equipment is electrically powered, it preserves mechanisms typical of a Venetian sawmill.

Trails to Cascata Piz del Pai and a Mountain Pasture

A circular hike to Cascata Piz del Pai begins in Celledizzo. The circular route follows the unpaved road towards Celentino and, after 300 metres, branches off towards Malga Sassa and the waterfall. The return route leads via Celentino and the gravel road “Le Penagiole” to Celledizzo.

Cascata Piz del Pai plunges into a narrow rocky gorge. The route to Cascata Piz del Pai is not suitable for pushchairs.

Two footpaths to a mountain pasture begin in the area near the Church of Santi Fabiano e Sebastiano: an old path of medium difficulty and an easier forest track. The walking time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The Museo del Contadino di Montagna can be visited as part of a guided tour by prior reservation.

E-Bike Experience from Celledizzo

The “Hop On the saddle” e-bike experience leads from Celledizzo via Peio Paese to the Malga Talè visitor centre.

The “Hop On the saddle” e-bike route runs along unpaved paths and requires no special physical preparation.

Announced Event in Summer 2026

The event “I Veri” or “I Ligeri” has been announced in Celledizzo for 30 and 31 July and 1 and 2 August 2026. On 2 August, a mass and a procession with flags through the historic centre will take place, accompanied by the Corpo Bandistico Val di Pejo.
