Val di Breguzzo: Valley and Mountain Heights

In Val di Breguzzo, the Torrente Arnò runs through the valley across its entire width. To the northwest, Val di Breguzzo is bordered by mountains reaching elevations of up to 3,000 m. In summer, easy hiking trails in Val di Breguzzo lead to the surrounding alpine pastures; experienced hikers can reach the highest glacial peaks of the Adamello Group.

Trails Between Alpine Pastures and History

The “Senter de le Fede” hiking trail, marked 223B, leads from Ponte Pianone to Malga Acquaforte and follows an old herding trail along which sheep were driven to the high pastures. The Arnò branch of the “Passi nella storia” trail follows information panels to Malga d’Arnò. The circular route takes around four hours and has an elevation gain of 450 m.

A branch of the “Passi nella storia” trail in Val di Trivena begins directly behind Breg Adventure Park and leads, accompanied by information panels and signs to Rifugio Trivena, to a former marble quarry. The “Orizzonti Liberi” trail runs at the head of Val di Breguzzo between Passo del Frate at 2,249 m and Bocchetta del Cop di Casa (Porte di Trivena) at 2,776 m, almost continuously along the ridge, connecting alpine habitats with impressive traces of the First World War.

Nature and Activities

“La Via delle Valli” is considered accessible to everyone, including families with strollers. The route runs along a paved mountain road between forests and meadows. Breg Adventure Park includes obstacle courses, zip lines, walkways and Tibetan bridges connecting the trees. Advance reservation is mandatory for Breg Adventure Park; tickets can be purchased online.

Pian Redont peat bog is a priority habitat of type 7140 under the Natura 2000 Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC. Pian Redont peat bog is home to Scheuchzeria (S. palustris L.) and the insectivorous round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia L.). Malga Acquaforte lies at 1,371 m. In its surroundings there is a mineral spring with thermal water, which can be reached via the route through Val di Breguzzo.

Churches, Architectural Heritage and Local Festivals

The first documentary record of the Antica Chiesa di Sant’Andrea in Breguzzo dates from the 13th century. The Antica Chiesa di Sant’Andrea was remodeled in 1350 and underwent a final major intervention in 1531, which gave it its present form. The altarpiece of the Chiesa di Sant’Andrea Apostolo in Breguzzo is an 18th-century oil painting on canvas from the Venetian school and is attributed to Palma il Giovane. The Chiesa di Sant’Andrea Apostolo in Breguzzo was consecrated on September 7, 1867.

The Vecchia Chiesa di Sant’Andrea is dedicated to the town’s patron saint, stands on the state road near the cemetery, and has been documented since 1242. Casa Ciolli-Sembenotti is protected as a cultural asset of particularly significant importance and is considered an important site in the history of Trentino in the 19th century. The Festa di Sant’Antonio and the Sagra di San Luigi are considered traditional community events in Breguzzo.
