Oulx: Art and Historic Buildings
In Oulx’s historic centre, there is an open-air museum featuring an important series of works connected with Piedmontese figurative culture.
The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta stands on a hill at the edge of Oulx’s Borgo Vecchio. Inside the church is a monumental triptych high altarpiece made of painted and gilded wood. Jacques Jesse from Embrun created it between 1670 and 1676.

On Piazza Garambois in the Borgo Inferiore stands a fountain dating from 1531. It has a square basin and a column with four outlets.
The fountain on Via Des Ambrois stands beneath a high portico and has a column with five outlets and a square basin bearing the year 1504. This year is the oldest identifiable date on a fountain in the upper valley. Compared with the fountain on Piazza Garambois, the portico, outlets and date are different.
The Torre Delfinale was built between 1350 and 1370. It probably served more as a residence than as a military structure.
Trails, Bakery Oven and Park
The Des Ambrois Trail opened in 2011. It leads to places that shaped the life of Minister Des Ambrois, Oulx’s most famous citizen, and comprises ten stops. Those following the Des Ambrois Trail thematically can use the ten stops as points of orientation along the minister’s places of life.
The communal bakery oven, restored in 2001, is still used for various festivals and celebrations. One of these occasions is the Feast of Saint Sebastian, patron saint of Viérë, held on 20 January.
Jardin d’la Tour is a public park.
Nature and Leisure
The Stagno di Oulx nature reserve is also a Natura 2000 site with the code IT1110022.
Lago Verde is equipped for trout fishing and offers the possibility of renting equipment.
Fiera Franca and Regional Products
The Fiera Franca originated in 1494 and is held annually in Oulx during the last days of summer, starting on 15 September. It brings together communities from the Dauphiné, the Dora Valley, the Pragelatese area and the Briançonnais.
At the Fiera Franca stalls, visitors can taste and buy regional products from the valleys. The Feast of Saint Sebastian takes place in Viérë on 20 January; the Fiera Franca begins on 15 September.
Getting to Oulx
Oulx can be reached via the A32 Torino–Fréjus motorway, taking the Oulx exit, or via the SS 24 del Monginevro state road.
Oulx railway station complements these road connections as an international stop on the Torino–Bardonecchia railway line. TGV trains to France also stop at Oulx station.
